Ramble ahoy

A bit like everyone in January I have been spending time polishing off leftovers. Not just the last few mince pies, chocs and cans of grown up fizzy stuff but also a project I started BLOODY MONTHS AGO!, namely these:

They are a block of 15mm pikemen from venexia intended to be used as test pieces for a possible Italian wars project. I have painted them as Papal troops and have used some of the excellent banners from petes flags

The reasons I abandoned the project in the first place were many, mostly a mix of frustration with the sculpts (soft details and the fact it's a bugger to try to line up a pike in both hands at the same time), the number of miniatures required to make the unit (44,  but a pike block needs heft), my butterfly brain wanting to do several other bits. Now I've been thinking about this while finishing the unit off and I think I know what the root of these issues was.

I think it's my own perceived lack of skill when it comes to painting. When I look at the photos the models are perfectly serviceable as gaming pieces. They look fine. Not spectacular, not likely to turn any heads but I'm pleased enough with the finished result. They are, to coin a well worn phrase 'table top standard'. And you know what? I'm happy with that. I got annoyed enough to put the miniatures away half painted because I wanted to achieve a level of painting I can't realistically do especially when batch painting 40+ models. What I should do is stop expecting perfection and instead enjoy the painting process for what it is.

I also painted some Landsknecht shot.

When you really dig into it there are two major points that back this up.

1) Most people's hobby time is taken up with painting if they want to play games with fully painted forces. This means (to me anyway) that it is important to appreciate and enjoy the act of pressure free painting as it will be taking up most of my relaxation time.

2) I reckon a high percentage of miniatures fielded on the tabletop across the world are what their owners would consider 'table top standard'. I think this is because people mostly have limited painting time, abilities that are always improving and the fact that unless you are playing games with a low model count you really don't have the chance to do your best work on every mini you take a brush to.

So I think we should do more to take the pressure of ourselves and eachother when it comes to perceived standard of painting. The brilliantly painted models we see all over the web and in many miniature publications are used because they are really nice examples, often by pros, they are not even close to the average. It's great to have these to aspire to but we must keep in mind that we don't have to match them.

What I think I'm driving at is that you can easily put yourself off of painting by putting too much pressure on yourself to achieve unrealistic standards. Painting is a skill that takes time to learn, you need to pat yourself on the back for each project finished not beat yourself up for mistakes you make. I'm going into 2022 with a no pressure approach to my hobbying and am determined to get better at enjoying every part of it.

Ramble over...

Wronghammer is dead?

It is with a heavy heart that i deliver the following post......but first:
Fuddy Muckers.

So yes, Wronghammer as we know is dead....when i say dead i mean on its last legs, you know life support....when i say life support i mean at least limping a bit.....

What im trying to say is that i have been taking stock of the way i have 'hobbied' since getting back into this toy bothering thing and i have realised the following:

1: I lack focus, pinballing around projects and abandoning things i have yet to properly even start.

2: I lack focu....err the bits i really enjoy are the world and narrative building and as of last year building and painting armies. I have less and less time to game and only tend to do so if i have a solid situational framework and scenario in mind.

3: When i try to do too much (narrativly speaking) i tend to burn out on an idea quickly. This leads to periods of inactivity where i cant get motivated to do anything at all.

4: I only really have a few limited periods that can hold my interest for any amount of time ( fantasy late medieval, Pike and shot and steam punk, often at the same time!!) and cant be bothered with learning countless sets of rules to support new periods. I tend to gravitate towards the same simple rules.

So with these things in mind i have decided to follow my muse (the good one, not the one that tries to tempt me with a million new things) and stick to one setting, the only one that i keep coming back to that on review most of my battles seem to be set in:

Olde Albilande

Now i realise this setting in this form has only been present in my gaming for about 2 years but if you go by the tone and feel of earlier battle reports they could be ( and i would bet subconsciously are) set here, just in a different historical period. So what i have decided to do is......

                                      MOVE HOME!!!!!!!!!

Packed up an' fuckin on!!

So i will be doing the majority of my blogging on my shiney new blog Ye olde Crivenshire Masticator which you can check out by clicking on the link. This will focus on building a single setting using projects based on different periods in the settings history, allowing me to world build and errr narrative write to my little hearts content while keeping a narrower focus. Also i feel a clean slate is needed as Wronghammer has been fun to document my baby steps back into gaming but i think i now am ready to do something with a more 'mature' outlook (who an i kidding?). I may still pop over here from time to time and will not be deleting this den of garbled bollocks but will be mostly focusing on decorating the new gaff.

So a huge thank you to everyone that has popped by over the years, given encouragement, had a giggle in the comments and otherwise supported my general twattishness. Please treat the new place as your own and feel free to continue in the same vein over there, your support and input is always greatly appreciated.......

.......'till??........

It's all in my head (sadly)

So, January went rattling by, all creativity and fun, even a game or two!. Then February came along and...well...

....but first:

Nice.

So why no posts for the last few weeks?. Well my last post hinted I may be looking into some sci-fi gaming, I even went as far as ordering some 6mm tanks and gubbins from brigade models, the idea being to build a couple of forces and play some games using a hybrid G.W epic/ Dirtside rules I have been bodging. I was aiming to expand on my last posts ramblings to create a kind of battle as a corporate sponsored sport type thing with a league set up, a commentary team to add the narrative bits and  all that type of stuff. However I have hit the wall for now when it comes to painting them. I have never really painted 6mm minis and I am finding them a little boring if I'm honest. Hopefully I will be dragged back to them soon but for now they have sat unloved in the painting 'zone' (it's a corner of a table!) looking at me with a 'why don't you love us?' look about them.
This is far from the first time this has happened with a project, it's pretty common for me to just abandon a good idea, my brain tends to switch gears at random taking off to wholly different places on its own accord. At the moment my brain is lurching between:

1) The next battle in my
Campaign, everything is ready to go (except my lazy backside apparently).

2) A crazy idea for a elaborate and expansive multiplayer campaign (involving much map based political skulduggery) set in:
With my 12mm forces, this is pretty tempting but my record for seeing something through at the moment is holding me back somewhat!.

3) A whole new project involving my much abused 1/72 stuff in an unhinged fantasy setting based around a renaissance era war galley being sucked into a whirlpool somewhere and ending up in a freakishly odd world populated by mutant indigenous tribes, stranded cultists from the order of world builders, undead knights that believe they are in the afterlife and whatever other bobbins I can dream up, basically high fantasy skirmish stuff without the normal high fantasy trappings.

4) An attempt at some kind of podcast with this Rapscallion that I can't seem to put the technical side together very well for. Still sounds like fun but my lack of technical anything is holding it back.

So as you can see, lots of ideas as ever, just the normal state of too many things jostling for my attention to focus on one!. Hopefully I will have some kind of post about stuff I have actually done next time out.....

A public shaming!.

Yep, you read the title correctly.......but first:

Before there was grunge.....there was Mudhoney!!!.

Right on to the naming and ruddy shaming (rant upcoming!).

My wife, the Amazing Mrs Sprinks was right, there i have said it!. Do i feel better.....well, sort of!. 'but what was she right about?' i hear you cry, well Mrs Sprinks has often been known to proclaim the mighty maxim 'DONT YOU HAVE ENOUGH LITTLE MEN BY NOW YOU WONDERFUL, BUFF, KINDHEARTED EXAMPLE OF A MAN?' (she may not use those words exactly). My normal response being to don the metaphorical smoking jacket and quip 'My dear, you simply cannot have too many of these wonderful little toys, for there is much to explore. Dont worry your pretty head about such things' for the record this response was never finished in its entirety and always ended in '.OWW!!'.

But i have finally come to the realization that she may have a point!. I know, pick yourself up oh fellow hobbiest and gurdle your loins, this next bit may require the use of smelling salts to plough through!. I had decided to sell off a few bits and bobs i was never going to get on the table to fund the purchase of some more 12mm goodness and to that end i decided it would be a good idea to organize my collection of 1/72 plastics to see what was surplus. I skipped to the hobby area (where Mrs Sprinks keeps the 'little men' out of eyeshot of visitors!) with a roll of plastic sandwich bags in hand to quickly execute said task and then put my feet up. Two hours later i had maybe sorted a fifth of my bits and run out of bags!. With hindsight this should have sounded the alarm in my head that all was not well. Another roll of bags and three days later the plastic goodies are sorted into sets ready to decide whats staying. It looked like this!:

Millie the Wronghammer hound included for scale!.

It was at this point i realized i may have a problem!.

So, it is with head bowed i admit i am a hoarder of plastic with far more minis than i will ever use, its no wonder i can never stick to one project with all this nagging away at me for a go on the table!. So the first step to recovery they say is admitting you have a problem. Check. The next one is to get ruthless and sell off the stuff that is surplus.! Lummie, that may be a huge task!. So i will be chucking a few batches of stuff on the 'bay to shift it in the next few weeks, looking to keep only what i will actually use in projects (and what i can realistically paint in one lifetime!). However there are two things i will do first. First, dear readers of this bobbins, is to show the bits for sale here first for you guys before they hit ebay. You guys put up with my cruddy blabbings so its only right you get first dibs (although i may be simply enabling some of you!). If you fancy any of it leave a comment and i will get back to you. Twhit:

Caesar Libyan Warriors

Zvezda Persians

Zvezda Austrian Pikes and muskets one full set on sprue and some odd bits.

Dark Dream Studio Landsknechts

Red box 16th cent Italians

Revell Normans

A f**ktonne of Mini Art Medievals. (my legs not included!)

Red box and Orion Turkish troops.

The second thing is to say that if in the time you have been reading this blog you have seen any bits you think you would like feel free to leave a comment and i will see what can be done.

About the fug.......

Hello out there!. It feels like forever since i had the urge to put pinkie to keyboard!. The main problem has been a general 'gaming fug  roun' these 'ere parts. My attitude to all things gaming was a general meh that has lasted for the last few weeks!:

An all covering feeling of not being arsed to actually get on with anything has held sway hence the lack of postage on this blog!. Looking back over my output shows several unfinished projects that need a ruddy good getting on with but i just have not had the gumption to actually do anything about them. I'm mainly talking about the two campaigns i started last year, the pike and shot fantasy rules, a ton of basing and other bits and bobs. I assume this is fairly normal hobby behavior as lots of bloggers talk of the 'lost mojo' so i will not be worrying and i hope it will be followed by a burst of pent up creativity from the very depths of my toy soldier bothering soul.
I have even tried to get a game on despite ll this but have yet to feel the urge to post it, now its been too long to remember the ins and outs of the action (it was something to do with Orcs on a stag do but the actual idea escapes me).  I have plenty of ideas but weather for now they will happen is another matter. A mash up of  dark age warfare/zombie apocalypse sounds fun or a vikings in o lost world setting (dinos everywhere!) but even typing about them fails to get the blood pumping enough to actually plan anything. But i'm sure normal service will be resumed shortly!.

While you wait here's some Bill Bailey clips as a form of appeasement/ distraction:

Gotta love Mr Bailey!.

......Oh and this is my 100th post!,.....yay!........

Moanhammer.

Sooooo....... Last time i posted it was to have a right old moan, this post is not much different!....Sorry in advance!.

Stuff is much better here at chez Sprinks, Sprinkling 2: Son of sprinks is healing nicely while Millie the wronghammer Dog no longer rocks the cone. Thank you all for your kind comments last time out, they seem to have done the trick!. However work is as busy as ever bringing a particular hobby related quandry along with it.

See the clock, see how he mocks me!!!!..........twat!.

Work is as busy as ever and working 'out of area' means late finishes a lot of the time. This means that time in the evening to do hobby related stuff just ain't happening!. This is mostly down to my insistence on playing games with several hundred minis at once, the thought of setting up and clearing away such masses of minis at stupid o' clock is not too great, and i want to spend what time i have with the amazing Mrs Sprinks and the Sprinklings where i can. So whats a toy soldier fiddler to do?.

Not quite so viable......

As my regular readers will know i have been working on some mass battle rules for some time now but as things stand it will be very hard to use them in the kind of windows for gaming i currently have.......which is poo!. So having been indulging in some of this 'thinking' stuff people enjoy so much i have come to the conclusion that i can change the basing for the game while making a few rule changes to allow for said changes while keeping most of the core mechanics in tact (which is good, because i have worked bloody hard on them!!). So i will be turning the mass battle rules into a fast play mass battle system that should allow me to play through a game in double quick time!.
The key?, MULTIBASING!

Like The Duc uses. Picture stolen from his fine blog (grovel grovel!)

Not sure what size bases or groupings of bases per unit but i reckon i have an idea that will make it work smoothly.

On another tac, has anyone seen what the good folk over at Dark Alliance have been getting up to?

ooooohhhh!!

aaaahhhhhh!

eeeeehhhhhhh!!!

Looks like they are covering the post apocalyptic, zombie holocaust sized gap in the 1:72 market in fantastic fashion!. And if thats not enough.....

Now in my opinion these are proper Goblins, real nasty looking little shits!, they are some of the best goblin sculpts ive ever seen, 1:72 or otherwise. They would also work as some kind of canablistic mutant types for a post apocalyptic setting too. You can find the whole range at the Red Box web page over here.

All that remains is to welcome Steve63 to the world of twattery, blither and such that is this very page!, he clicked the follower bit like many lost souls before him, is there any hope for him left?!!. Welcome along sir, glad to have you. Im not sure if you blog but if you do please pop a link in the comments it would be great to see what your getting up to!.

.....'till next time.....

The week that was (and frankly, can fu*k right off!!)

Its been a trying week at chez Sprinks, i always like to keep this blog like space purely 'gamey' (gamey bits below i promise), but its my space so i will be venting for a bit before i update the ol' campaign (your good folks, i know you can ignore my moaning!).
This week has been one of those that you just wish had buggered off before it began!, It started with not only the tumble dryer giving up the ghost and a random piece falling off the downstairs sink. I know what your thinking, 'But Sprinks, thats all deal-withable', and you would be right. But that was just the start!. I have been working 'out of area' this week and therefore have been inundated with re-wires of decades old Bristolian wiring that is a kind of overtly dangerous spaghetti the likes of which you do not want to put your hands in because some of it is going to be live in the worst possible way!.
My first job on monday morning.....possibly.

This has meant early starts and late finishes each day just to get through the leathal linguini!!.....but thats still not the worst of it, oh no. The Dog has decided that just being happy, bouncy and generally a bit dopey was not enough, she decided that a nice deep cut on her leg would top things off nicely (thanks to a piece of broken sharp ridged plastic some utter FU*KKNUCKLE threw into the garden, no really whoever you are you are a total bellend of epic proportions!), the result, a cut that even though treated will just not heal and has been so far had stitches and then staples in it but still not closed up!.

Millie the Wronghammer dog models the cone of shame!.

I know, still not so bad, it can be coped with.....but then.....

Sprinkling 2:son of Sprinks sleeping it off.

The above is the result of the great monkey bars incident of 2018, Sprinkling 2:son of Sprinks managed to break both his arms falling backwards from said bars, 5 breaks over the two arms, several wires and 3 hours of surgery later hes back at home but with casts on both arms he can do nothing for himself and is reduced to relying on myself and the amazing Mrs Sprinks to be his arms for at least the next 4 weeks!. So yep, this week can go get fu*ked!.

.......On a lighter note.....

There has been developments!!!!!!!.

- The Crivenshire 4th after their victory at Both Ways have been ordered to push on while leaving a guard on the bridges to press and engage the retreating Fossestershire 2nd and cause enough trouble over the Fossestershire border to draw off the reserves of the lurking Fossestershire 4th.

-The forces of Lamavic are bored. Armies are massing ready to pick a target for random yet focused violence!.

-The forces of Offenhammeshire are massing on the Crivenshire border but holding position, the 2nd army however are readying themselves on the Fossestershire border close to the warring forces from both ways.

-Burkenshire have Raised their forces in response to the battles close to their border and the massing Lamavic armies.

-Off the Burkenshire coast a small group of ships look to make it to port unnoticed.....

Next time hopefully their will be less drama and more gaming, i hope to have The battle of Privies Pile played and ready to go!.

......'till next time......

Oh dear blog, how i have neglected you!!

Well that month went flying by!!. Just as i get some momentum on game playing, basing and rule writing life just has to stick its oar in!. So this is one of those 'im not dead just limping a little' posts that i told myself when i started this little den of twattery i would post too regularly to have need for. Which obviously worked!.
Work commitments have been getting heavy and have either sucked up all my hobby time or have leached all energy for it. Coupled with some large scale home improvements and a heat wave here in blighty sod all fun stuff of the small plastic type has happened!. But do not despair oh readers of this cobblers, while the hobby time has been rather dry my feeble mind has been turning. Ideas for games have been hatched and plot points for both ongoing campaigns (both The hassles of Hoff and The war of four kings) have rattled around. Soon i will get them played out i promise. I have solved my basing issues so will crack on with re-basing bits as i need them. Some new additions have also been added to the setting (mostly of the giant stompy kind) so i will have to introduce them as soon as i can. Also the home improvements mentioned above included some choice items of flat pack furniture from the friendly local Swedish 'nowf*uckoffandmakeityourself....meatballs?' emporium so im back to having something like this in the house:

                                                 Which ended o.k. last time.

....anyway, piffle post over real content to follow soon....i hope!, 'till next time (whenever that is!).

New with old, old from new!!

I think it was Bob Dylan that sang:

Yep, yep it was (thanks Mr Bob), and in many ways he was right, however he would not have known that it applies to Wronghammer too (would he care?, best not to dwell....). But thats whats going on!. You see dear surfer of the web of worlds, my last few months have been a little weird hobby wise. I all but finished the re-basing of all my minis and the rounding out of my home brew fantasy setting. Happy wee bunny was i. But you know how it goes, i was suffering from nagging discontent. The setting is cool in my own humble opinion but....i don't know how to really express it........its just a bit dry. Very detailed, lots of complex alliances and relationships between factions and a history that can be twisted and bent without breaking but with enough holes that need fleshing out to give lots of campaign options. But it needs me to write in a more sensible way to the 'style' that is my natural 'voice' (how wanky does that sound!?!). So, to cut a long story shorter, each time i sit to type material for it i end up frustrated with a lack of warmth or humor (as far as it is in these pages!) in the prose!. So....whats a numptie geek to do?.
I dont know what you regular readers (all four of you!) think but i have loved writing the last post ( to be found here) and found the sort of freedom in the subject that sparked the old hobby mojo the stuff i was trying to write was not. Soooooooo.........

........Drastic action will be taken!!!!!!. Towitt:

THE SETTING I HAVE BEEN WORKING TOWARDS AN THAT IS DEAD!!! *

(* Or atleast on a long hiatus for the time being!!!!!).

Thats right you heard me, the focus of my gaming will no longer include the setting i have been working towards ( the Mentally Terrorforming stuff shall be sodded off!!!!). But wait!, i know what your thinking; 'Sprinks, what are you doing?, that means these pages are to be full of even more unfocused bleatings from your messed up brain!'. That would indeed be the case, but no!. An idea came to me:

(time for more silly sized lettering)

I WILL MAKE ANOTHER SETTING, ONE THAT PLAYS TO MY STYLE OF BEING IN NO WAY SENSIBLE OR REAL, ONE THAT ALLOWS ME TO ADD ANY OLD SILLY CRAP THAT MAKES ME LAUGH AT THE TIME, ONE THAT FOLLOWS MY NORMAL PATTERN OF STUPID NARRATIVES, ONE...

.....You get the idea.... so, with no further ado i give you:

A combined setting, ongoing campaign and story arc that will be built as i go!!!!!. (i'm sooo excited i cant sit still while typing!!!!)

However i do need to impose some rules on myself, towoo:

 1 Anything bloody goes!
Nothings too stupid as long as it makes me smile and adds to a fun hobby time its going in!. End of!.

2 Its evolution baby!!
The setting will be allowed to breath and form as it goes along, pre-thought out stuff is fine but it will not be set in stone, it will be a shifting arc that is shaped by narrative games!.

3 Nothing new!!
By which i mean i am here by BANNED from buying any more minis!. Cross my heart i will not be swayed!, i am scrapping a huge projects worth of minis so i will use what i have and make them fit (not too hard with the rules above). There is a whopping great loophole for trades mind!!!.

4 Nothing is sacred!!
I reserve the right to tear down and stamp on that which is included, nothing is immune!. Also i will take feedback in comments from you guys and will let you help shape the games and story arc as it goes. Feel free to chuck in ideas!!!!!.

Now i have a set of boundaries in place whats been formed in my brain so far?, well, i have a loose map showing the lay of the land i am going for and an idea of setting the main factions as opposed counties in a mid-medievalish ye olde faux-english setting.

Thus:

If you click it it will ggrrroooowwwww!!!!!!!!

The basic idea is set right after the suspected assassination of the entire royal line ( poisoned damson duff at a royal do to mark the feast of stCackendale!!) the remaining authority, in the form of the four earls of the counties of Olde Albilande (Crivenshire, Offenhammeshire, Fossestershire and Burkenshire)  have been left to determine a successor!. Throw in many other complications and angles (noisy neighbours, bandits, undead hordes and a possible invasion from overseas) and it should give plenty of chances for chaos and fun!!.

 But thats not all!. Some of you may be wondering whats going on with the last new project?;

Glad you asked, well, rather brilliantly Sgt Hoff, Ginger and the rest of the Fighting Cocks fit the framework set out above so they are to be moved over to the new setting giving me a whole other angle to write from and add stuff with!. Bonus!. (i feel i need to say that i have become taken with these 'project headers'. I must  point out that the idea has been totally RIPPED OFF from mr Chico Danks over at Oldhammer on a Budget, who has been doing it for ages to great effect. His are mini works of art, mine are a bit crap but they are satisfying to make!. So thanks Chico for the idea and this is a case of imitation being a very sincere form of flattery).

So thats whats been going on round at mine, i will be adding bits and pieces soon to begin the 'fleshing out' of all this bobbins, but for now its time to say........'till next time......

How do you eat an Elephant?

......One bite at a time!.

As i mentioned in this post a while ago (going on 3 months now) i have....er..... gifted myself the wonderful project of rebasing ALL MY BLOODY MINIS!!!!!!!. This post is happening first as a kind of progress report and second to encourage myself to push on and get it done!. I got out the based minis i have finished so far and took these (dark, dark) photos:

If you hold a torch to the screen and squint you may be able to make out the extent of the task. I am over two thirds of the way through having based 4 of the 6 regions of the made up setting i have built. It has to be said however im struggling with the scale of all this and motivating myself to push on is getting tougher!. I have left my fave nations for last so i hope that will help but i have another 4 or 5 of these draws full to do!!. I also have the urge to get some games played and background written so im hoping that will give me a quick break, i just hope i can motivate myself to get back into this!.

On a slightly different note i have treated myself to the following as a post birthday prezzie:
More minis, that'll help!!!

These are nice sets, each containing 158 minis from across Strelets Saxon and Viking ranges (with some new sculpts thrown in). I highly recommend them as a new convert to Strelets as they have tonnes of character and if you are looking for troops of this period or fantasy dark age types they work very well. check out the Plastic Soldier Review listings here and here (scroll down the text for links to all the minis in the set). And you can get the sets for £18 each here! (thats roughly 9 pence per mini!). Who fancies a new army for under £20?.

Just a quick post, all that remains is to welcome the brilliantly named Lost Egg to the wonky world of Wronghammer. Welcome sir!. I'm not sure if you blog but as always if you do feel free to put a link in the comments as we would all love to see what you have been up to!.

......Anyhow, back to the basing (sighs).....till next time......

Saturday, 20 January 2018

It'll never happen!!!!!

The last post got me wondering, i know i have loads of 'dream' projects i would love to do but know deep down i will probably never get round to. For example i would love to game out the final battle in:
How cool would that be?!!. I also think it would be doable in 20mm plastic these days as medieval blokes are well catered for and the undead army could be done by mixing
The Red Box undead types with:
Ceaser undead (pic from plastic soldier review),  could provide some of the personalities for the army of darkness, Sheila could be on the end and Evil Ash could be converted from the guy in the middle left?.

The Oldsmobile may be harder but im sure ebay would provide a body in the right scale.....
......This beast could be done?.....

Other projects that could be fun would be some of the battles of Westeros. I am a fan of George RR Martins Song of ice and fire setting, i love the politics and relationships between the families and houses that constantly switch and shift as the various factions vie for any advantage. If you have ever done office work you may recognize the traits!!. Some of the battles described in his work would be great fun to game in my opinion. The Blackfire rebellion where the bastard sons of house Targaryan rose to try to take the throne would be fun, as would Roberts rebellion and the battle of the trident.

Hugs, Westaros style!.
As stated above minis would be pretty easy to source as the psudo-medieval setting in 20mm is if anything over saturated so you would be spoiled for choice!.

Im not the worlds biggest sci-fi fan but a battle that would be amazing on the games table would be from the movie Starship troopers.
Doogie Howser in sppaaacccceeeeeee!!!!!!

The one where the roughnecks are stranded in an abandoned outpost while masses of bugs swarm towards them!.
The idea of a small force outnumbered over 10 to 1 attempting to hold out while transports arrive to rescue them is always a fun and tense game but something about the setting really works for this battle in particular. The film itself is not much to write home about but the set pieces are fun and great for these types of ideas. As far as minis go any 20mm moderns could work for the human troops
These would do the trick? (pic from Toy soldier H.Q).
As for bugs, how about Games workshop Tyrinids spring to mind.
Ooooh buggy!! (pic from Spikybitz)

All of this will probably never happen but its nice to think about from time to time.....oh well.....

But enough about the dank reaches of my dusty old brain, how about you guys?, what projects would you love to do (money and time no object)?. Why not pool ideas in the comments below?.

.......Anyway, till next time.....
